BATTERY RECYCLING LOCATIONS

We collect batteries from hundreds of organisations nationwide. We've created a map to make it easy for you to find your nearest location to drop off your used batteries for recycling.

If it's easier, you're welcome to drop your batteries off at any of our Phoenix Recycling locations. Please note there will be a charge.

RESPONSIBLE
BATTERY
RECYCLING

Phoenix's collection partner network is the only NZ map of public drop-off locations with verified battery recycling downstreams.  The batteries you drop off to recycle are collected and recycled with Phoenix's multiple international permits to export hazardous waste, which have been verified with the Environmental Protection Authority NZ, in accordance with the International Basel Convention. This recycling solution also strictly adheres to NZ's laws and regulations.

We recycle all battery types.

CIRCULAR
BATTERIES

Materials from your batteries are recovered for re-use as base metals or undergo further refining/extraction to be used in new applications.

For Alkaline Batteries, the recovered Zinc and Manganese By-Product is on sold as a tradable commodity for further refining, often recycled to be made into new batteries. Black mass from lithium batteries is further extracted for reuse into brand new batteries. Recycled Nickel makes raw materials for Stainless Steel. Recovered Cadmium is used for the manufacture of Ni-Cd batteries and for plating purposes..

REDUCE
RISK

Every battery counts. This solution is insured through every step of its supply chain to global recycler. By safely recycling batteries with our collection partners we can remove batteries from our municipal waste streams. Let's help prevent fires and recover valuable resources for recycling instead of allowing batteries to end up in NZ landfills.
